Things to Do in and Near San Diego

San Diego is one of my favorite cities to visit. It has beautiful weather all year, beautiful beaches, and lots of fun places to go. While in San Diego, I enjoy going to Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, the Hotel Del Coronado, UC San Diego, and Black’s Beach. San Diego is also just a stone-throw away from Tijuana, Mexico.
The San Diego Zoo is world famous. It has a wide variety of animals from all over the world. Near the zoo is also the San Diego Wild Animal Park, which is incredible. This is a huge park containing animals in large roaming areas. A tram takes tourist through all these areas. The park also has many animal shows.
Another big attraction in San Diego is Sea World, a large aquatic theme park. One can watch numerous shows there, including a spectacular killer whale show as well as dolphin and otter shows.
While in San Diego, I enjoy visiting La Jolla. UC San Diego, a well-renowned university, is located there. From the university, one can walk down a cliff to Black’s Beach, a famous nude beach. One can also watch hang gliders from the beach. The cliffs provide an ideal wind current for hang gliding.
A friend of mine from college used to live in San Diego, and I used to visit him there about once a year. While there, we’d usually take a tram down to the Mexican border, from where we’d walk across the border into Tijuana. Although Tijuana is a dump, it’s interesting to see. Once you arrive there, you find a huge street market with people selling everything from blankets to posters to alabaster artifacts.
